Sustainability

We believe that efficient, well designed and built homes are for the betterment of people and the world as a whole.

What are sustainable features and how can we integrate them into your build?

Utilising the sun & solar

For solar passive design, natural heating and comfort. Using natural light to create light, bright, beautiful spaces and use less lighting. We can help you choose the right solar system, to reduce your fossil fuel usage.

Air tightness & installing optimal insulation

At Aligned Building, we believe that the minimum standards of the building code in Australia fall short. That's why we go above and beyond by implementing best practices, using high-quality, breathable building wraps, tapes, and methodologies. As passive haus accredited tradespeople, our focus is on creating healthier homes with improved air quality. We also recommend Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) for fresh, filtered air, contributing to your optimal health and well-being.

Passive House

Passive house delivers thermal comfort and healthy indoor air with minimal heating and cooling by utilizing insulation, airtightness, High performance windows and doors, Heat recovery ventilation (HRV) and the elimination of thermal bridges. Using a ‘fabric first’ approach passive house homes are amazingly comfortable achieving an almost year round 20 degrees minimum. A blower door test and certification will ensure the home meets the standard and uses an incredible 90% less than traditional buildings. Aside from being comfortable to live in the ventilation system ensures fresh healthy air are constantly delivered to the home. Passive House is quite simply the best standard one could hope to build a home to and provides numerous long term benefits.

Building robust homes that will stand the test of time.

Use new construction methods that adopt air tightness and breathable homes to reduce mould and moisture issues and promote healthy air quality inside the home.

Recycle, reuse, and reduce waste where we can.

And utilise Energy efficient lighting, appliances and systems.

All electric homes

To encourage and create 'all electric homes': these homes use hot water heat pumps, induction cooktops, and reverse cycle air conditioning - electricity costs can then be rebated with solar panels and save gas connection costs.

Rainwater recycling

We can use this for gardening and toilets reduces water consumption and cost.

Windows

Using windows to encourage cross ventilation and maximize airflow.

Good quality, double glazed (or beter) windows and doors retain heat and comfort.

Low embodied energy materials

Low or no VOC materials.

Reclaimed and recycled materials

Low embodied energy selection of materials and systems

“People and the environment are always at the forefront of our discussions, decisions and direction as we continually consult, learn, try and adjust our building practices to try and achieve the best outcomes for our clients. ”
